BHIWA
Basin-wide Holistic Integrated Water Management (BHIWA) Model is especially developed to provide an integrated computational framework for a basin level assessment of water resources with a view to evaluate water sector polices. The model considers the entire land phase of the hydrologic cycle and is capable of depicting human impacts such as changes in land and water use, as also impacts of water storage and depletion through withdrawals for various water uses and inter basin water transfers. The model takes into consideration complex interaction between numerous factors including surface and groundwater, land use and natural water supply, storage and water withdrawals and returns, through separate water balances for surface and groundwater as well as an overall water balance. PODIUM
The International Water Management Institute, as part of the World Water Vision 2025, has developed PODIUM - the policy dialogue model in 1999. The model, an interactive tool runs on a personal computer. The PODIUM enables the users to develop national level scenarios of water and food supply and demand on various policy options. Though PODIUM was recognized as a useful tool for generating scenarios, some limitations were also identified. The PODIUM beta version was a cereal based model [PodiumSIM (Zip file 2.21 MB)]. MTD
The Multilingual Technical Dictionary (MTD) of all technical terms related to irrigation, drainage, flood management, environment, river training and allied disciplines (see contents below)is a flagship publication of the ICID. First published in English and French languages in 1967, the 4th edition of the MTD (English-French) was brought out on CD-ROM in the year 2002. Current 5th edition defines 9370 technical terms in Chinese, Japanese and Russian, besides English and French.
The MTD brings coherence in sharing and exchange of experiences and has proved to be highly useful for engineers, researchers, students, professionals, planners, designers, academics and all others related with the field of irrigation and drainage. Any term definition can be printed/copied with option to download/updates terms from ICID website. [More on MTD...]
WEAP
WEAP ("Water Evaluation And Planning" system) is a user-friendly software tool that takes an integrated approach to water resources planning. [More on WEAP....]

SALTMED model has been developed for generic applications. It accounts for different: irrigation systems, crops, soil types and fertilizer applications. The SALTMED model (Ragab, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2015, 2019) was developed to predict dry matter and yield, soil salinity and soil moisture profiles, salinity leaching requirements and soil nitrogen dynamics and nitrate leaching, soil temperature, water uptake, evapotranspiration. The model is friendly and easy to use benefiting from the WindowsTM environment; however, it is a physically based model using the well-known water and solute transport, evapotranspiration, and water uptake equations.
