The Indian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (INCID) is the representative National Committee for India in the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), primarily working for bringing improvements in irrigation and drainage in India. Participation of Young Professionals

Despite the challenging development scenario, the irrigation and drainage sector is suffering from a lack of interest from young professionals as they find careers in the sector uninteresting with little growth potential. The irrigation and drainage sectors are key factors of development in largely agrarian societies and societies struggling for food security. Infusion and nurturing of young talents are necessary for the countries to meet their specific challenges in these areas. Keeping in view of this long-term objective, ICID established a dedicated Working Group in 1993. At the 65th IEC Meeting held at Gwangju, Korea, in September 2014, the Council approved establishing an ICID Young Professional’s e-Forum (IYPeF) with open membership. In order to throw an open ICID platform to all the Young Professionals interested in agriculture water management issues, the e-Forum was established as a new LinkedIn Group.
